Transcending The Mundane - New York |
|||||||||||||||
How It Ends is a Philadelphia based band which mixes hardcore and metal for a brutal sound. The band has only been together for two years and that is what makes their debut full length, So Shall It Be, all the more impressive. This is definitely the type of band that would make fans out of people who like metal like Sepultura and hardcore like the Cromags, sort of a balanced combination and comparisons to Hatebreed are bound to happen. Vocally, Ross sticks to a growling, screaming combination with emphasis on the brutal nature of How It Ends. Musically, the band is not afraid to incorporate some groove and modern metal which one would find in Soulfly and Sepultura type band, except How It Ends does it even heavier. Thorp Records is home to many of the best hardcore bands in America, being th metalhead that I am it's always nice to see the label crossover with some bands (i.e. Stamping Ground, Scars Of Tomorrow) and How It Ends is another perfect example of how metal and hardcore can be merged into a killer sound.
Album Score: 7.5 out of 10
