Home - lyrics - Under My Own Breath

Beloved
OUT NOW

Under My Own Breath

This set of circumstances, be it far from normal for me
It has taught a lesson that I hoped I would never see
It makes me sick to think that your way was the one I chose to look
And it makes it hard to believe that your advice was what I once took.
Show me a shred of decency and I'll show you what it's like to have a heart.
Your inability to mask your faults was clear from the start

Don't talk to me about understanding, been a part of this for too long.
Your ways are too demanding, you don't know worse from wrong.
Spent too much time preparing, perfecting what I have come to love
Your course of ulterior motives is shown now that a push has come to shove

Where do you get off throwing propositions my way
I've worked too hard at this
Secretly making an attempt at
having a say
With one hand tied to the other, constantly
struggling to try
Pretending to not mind your place in my life
wishing you would die

Always - minding - my own - problems and faults
Learning - from what - I've been shown
Never - turning- back on - what I've stood for

Where do you get off throwing propositions my way
I've worked too hard at this
Subliminally making an attempt at
having a say
With one hand tied to the other, constantly
struggling to try
Pretending to not mind your place in my life
wishing you would die
wishing you would die

If there's one thing that this part of my life has taught me
It's that the best advice is never given willingly
I could sail all the seven seas, I could walk myself to death
But I know the best advice would still be said under my own breath
